Imagine that you are a spirit that originates from the infinite, perfect Fullness (the Unknown Father, the Source, Home). But once, this Fullness “spilled out” (through Sophia) and its fragment (You) found itself trapped โ€“ in a world created by someone else (the demiurge), who pretends to be the true God.

This world has seven layers (seven gates), guarded by the Overlords โ€“ beings who want to ensure you never return Home. Each gate is a kind of illusion / hook that keeps you down.

Seven gates

Here they are โ€“ from the lowest to the highest โ€“ along with what we most commonly feel at each level:

  1. The Moon Gate โ€“ level of the body and instincts
“I must survive. I fear pain, hunger, death, loneliness.”
Here we feel like an animal โ€“ the body rules, the fear for life is strongest.
Many people never go beyond this gate.

  2. The Mercury Gate โ€“ level of the mind and thoughts
“I must understand everything, name it, control it, be right.”
Constant thinking, analysis, doubts, and internal dialogue appear.
This is where “I think, therefore I am” is born โ€“ but it is still a trap.

  3. The Venus Gate โ€“ level of emotions and relationships
    “I love / I hate / I need another person / I fear rejection.”
Desire, jealousy, a wounded heart, the need for acceptance, and the drama of love rule here.
A great many people get stuck right here.

  4. The Sun Gate โ€“ level of the ego and the false “I am”
“I am unique / enlightened / better / worse / I must be someone important.”
Spiritual ego is born here โ€“ “I am right”, “I know better”, “I am awakened”.
This is a very deceptive gate โ€“ many “spiritual” people stop right here.

  5. The Mars Gate โ€“ level of struggle and anger
“I must fight evil / the system / darkness / myself.”
The spiritual warrior appears here, the need to overcome, to purify, to “fix the world.”
Anger and spiritual ambition are very strong here.

  6. The Jupiter Gate โ€“ level of false authority and spiritual pride
    “I have a mission / I must teach / save others / be a spiritual leader.”
The guru, the teacher, the “chosen one,” “the one who knows” is born here.
This is the last great trap โ€“ it is very difficult to pass through because it seems “good.”

  7. The Saturn Gate โ€“ level of time, karma, fate, and death
“I must make it / I must achieve something / pay for my sins.”
This is the last, heaviest gate โ€“ the fear of passing, guilt, karma, destiny.
When you cross it โ€“ time ceases to exist, karma loses its power, death stops being terrifying.

What happens when you pass through all seven gates? Link to heading

  • There is no longer any fear of lack (physical, emotional, spiritual).
  • There is no need to understand, control, fight, teach, or achieve.
  • There is no longer an “I” that wants something or is afraid of losing something.
  • All that remains is silence, pleasure for no reason, lightness, laughter, being.
  • The external world becomes “porous” โ€“ things happen on their own, without your effort.
  • The body becomes light, pleasant, sometimes “not yours” โ€“ like a temple through which something greater flows.

You don’t have to “pass through the gates one by one” in a conscious way. They open on their own when you stop feeding the illusion with attention, struggle, ambition, or fear.

If you feel longing, silence, laughter for no reason, pleasure in your body โ€“ it is already a sign that you have passed many gates. You don’t have to count them โ€“ it’s enough that you stop believing in their power.
